How We Met

It all started in a little Northwoods bar, Corina’s Cantina in Tomahawk, Wisconsin around 2006. Kasha would travel up from Waukesha to "help" at the bar her mom owned (though help may be a generous word). Sean known to many as "Corky" was a frequent visitor from Rhinelander and friends with one of Kasha’s sisters. Over the years, life took them in different directions, but they always stayed in touch and would cross paths at events and gatherings. The connection was always there even if they didn’t know it yet. Like an invisible string pulling them together but waiting for the right moment. In 2018, fate stepped in. Kasha had moved back from Chicago, and Sean had already settled in Milwaukee years before. Their paths crossed again and this time, the timing was finally golden. At the end of August 2024, Kasha and Sean headed to Chicago to enjoy a spontaneous weekend. No itinerary, no expectations just a walkable city escape with good food and boat views. On their second day, they decided to visit the Willis Tower and brave the Skydeck Ledge. As they waited in line, Sean was preparing for a big moment. But just as they were next to step out onto the glass, Kasha took one look down, panicked, and bailed — scared of heights. What she didn’t know was… Sean was about to propose! Attempt #1: failed. Not giving up, Sean tried again a few steps later, suggesting someone should take a photo of them with the skyline in the background. Kasha replied, “You can just hold the phone — I’ll take it with the pencil.” (Romantic, right?) Attempt #2: also failed. They left the tower and returned to their hotel to get ready for a sunset dinner cruise with fireworks. Just before heading out for the evening, Sean, in true rom-com fashion, turned off an Adam Sandler movie (to set the mood), got down on one knee, and asked Kasha to marry him. Her response? “What is going on? What is going on?!” Spoiler: She said yes. Kasha then proceeded to tell every single person she saw in Chicago that they had just gotten engaged. It was August 31, 2024 a day neither of them will ever forget. From that Northwoods bar to forever!!! Here we are. Fun fact: Sean didn’t want to risk Kasha finding the ring box in the suitcase, so he carried the ring in his pocket, without the box, with his finger holding it in place from Friday morning until Saturday night. Talk about dedication and nerves of steel.
