Armond and Kasey knew each other but only from a distance through a college ministry that they both were apart of called Campus Outreach. While they had seen each other at ministry events over the years, it wasn't until the Spring of 2017 that they had their first conversation. Armond was preparing to spend the summer in Orlando at the CO summer project and visited the CO office in Indy where Kasey worked. While they discussed some admin details about the summer project, Armond realized that Kasey's personality was pretty cool and Kasey enjoyed talking with Armond in the moment.
A few months after Armond returned from the summer project, he had some extra tickets to a Pacers basketball game. After asking several friends on the day of the game, none of which could go with him, he thought of Kasey and spontaneously asked her to join him. She agreed to go under the impression that there was a group of people going together. He picked her up and took her to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Kasey soon realized there was not a group of people but it was just her and Armond. She was afraid it was about to be awkward because they didn't know each other very well. But during the game Armond was very intentional and asked Kasey questions to get to know her. They both enjoyed their conversation during the game and went to get ice cream afterwards before he took her home and thanked her for going to the game with him. Exactly one month later, after not seeing or talking to each other at all, Armond called Kasey and asked her to coffee. Kasey was intrigued and agreed to meet him. They ended up getting breakfast at Metro Diner on November 26. After some nice conversation, Armond expressed to Kasey he was interested in getting to know her more and would like to take her on another date. Because Kasey had really enjoyed their time together so far, she said yes to go on a date with him.
Armond: Kasey had no clue what was in store for this special anniversary weekend. She thought all along that we were just celebrating our anniversary, but I planned for this to happen a month ago. I was pumped and could hardly sleep thinking about what it would be like and how excited she would be. I planned a few dates that would bring back memories of our first time hanging out and when I asked her to be my love. After every date I gave her a love letter about why I want to marry her. On Sunday, after a special lunch at Fogo De Chão, we drove to the proposal destination-Coxhall Gardens. On the way I played her love songs and was singing to her - she loved it. When we arrived and sat down on a bench, I gave her the last love letter I needed to give to her before I proposed to her. Then we walked down to the fountain and under what I call the umbrella where there were rose petals and flowers for her. I told her that I really had something to give her. Then I was on my knee and I asked her to marry me. She immediately said yes, and was so excited and confused about how this all happened! Kasey: I genuinely thought a proposal was at least a month away. Now looking back there were a lot of hints..my friend inviting me to get my nails done, Armond suggesting I buy a new outfit, plus he was acting extra sweet and sentimental throughout the weekend. He recreated our first date - a Pacers game and ice cream. After each date he gave me a love letter which of course I loved! On Sunday, which happened to be a gorgeous, fall day he took me to our favorite park-Coxhall Gardens. This is when I seriously started to wonder if he was about to propose - but I was trying so hard not to get my hopes up! He gave me a third love letter and we walked down to the gazebo where there were rose petals and flowers on the ground. He said, "I do have something I want to give you." Before I knew it he was down his knee and holding out the ring! All I remember is saying YES over and over!
