Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We would love to see all of our friends and family dressed up for our big day! We are asking for all our guests to dress in semi-formal attire. No jeans please! Cocktail-length dresses, dressy separates, and a suit (tie optional), for example, are what we view as semi-formal!

Are children welcome?

Answer

We love kids! But, due to our venue and caterers limits, we ask that no children NOT listed on your invitation attend. Any children involved in, or invited to the wedding, will be listed on your invitation. However, we do encourage our guests with children to use this night as a date night, so please do not feel pressured to bring your children, if you do not wish!

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate the guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If your partner is invited, their name will be listed on your invitation and will appear when you RSVP. Thank you so much for understanding!

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

We will not be serving, or permitting ANY substance on the property during our ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception. We will be serving custom mocktails, sodas and plenty of other unique drink options for our guests! We will be enforcing this policy harshly, so we ask that you please respect our choices to have our guests be fully present and sober for our wedding! Thank you for your understanding, and willingness to celebrate our day without alcohol.

Can I take pictures?

Answer

Yes! We want you to have and share memories of our special day! We do ask that you limit the amount of photos taken during our ceremony, so our amazing photographer Catherine can get as many photos as possible without cellphones blocking her path. We also ask that any photos you would like to take during our ceremony be taken from your seat. Please do not get up and move into the aisles during the ceremony, as this can disrupt Catherine’s photography as well. During our reception, feel free to take as many photos as your phone can store!

How's parking?

Answer

Our venue is in the heart of downtown Cedar Rapids, so parking is a little tricky! The Carriage House has parking connected to the mansion, as well as access to a parking lot at the church across the street. Because of this, we ask that our guests try to coordinate carpooling as much as possible! A map showing the parking lots nearby will be available on our website once we get closer to the date.

Will the wedding be inside?

Answer

We are currently planning for our ceremony to take place outside, but if the weather gets too warm, cold, or rainy we will make sure to update our Facebook Event with what the plan would be! Our venue has an amazing outdoor area with firepits, a water fountain, and a beautiful patio and lawn. Our reception will take place indoors, but we encourage our guests to mingle and get to know each out during the cocktail hour and reception. During those times, please enjoy yourselves outside or inside the venue!

We have an online option for RSVPs, which you can access by clicking the RSVP button on the top of this website! Please reach out to us if you have any issues while RSVP'ing.
