How we met

11/10/2012

On the night of Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Toby Keith Bar & Grill in Rancho Cucamonga, it seemed fate had brought us both to the bar. We were each with our own group of friends but once our eyes locked, there was no turning back. We shared a special moment over a "Long Beach" and a Gin & Tonic, exchanged numbers and parted ways. Just Kidding...kinda The real story is, Drew's friend Kevin picked up on us girls as we were getting ready to leave the bar. Drew and I began talking and after a couple of drinks, the rest is history!

The Proposal

09/11/2018

It all started a few months before our trip to Hawaii casually checking out various jewelers... Fast forward to September with all plans set and ready to go...or so I thought. My mom Shireen was the keeper of the ring because if you all know Karyn, she notices any little flinch or change in demeanor. Karyn's mom, Susan, was secretly flying separately to surprise Karyn on THE DAY. Just my luck, the morning of our planned sunset cruise proposal, a tropical storm rolled through and the hotel called to cancel. Meanwhile, Karyn was getting a massage, while I was frantically trying to improvise a new plan. Around 1PM, the sun finally broke through and gave me a window of opportunity. At that point, the only ones that knew were my mom, sister, brother in law and Karyn's mom. I persistently encouraged everyone to get dressed up to walk down the beach and take "family photos" since our cruise was canceled. Wanting it to be a secret ended up working against me as everyone protested getting dressed up to "walk down the beach". As we all finally made the walk down to Black Rock Beach, it was the perfect setting for a proposal. I asked Karyn if she wanted to take a funny photo knowing I was just about to get down on one knee. Even after getting down on one knee, she still thought we were taking a funny photo... I pulled out the ring and everything became a blur. I'm still not sure if she said yes, I just remember her telling me I had to put the ring on her finger. Just as I stood up and we all turned to face my family, Karyn's mom appeared from behind to surprise her. It was truly the best day ever.

For all the days along the way
