We can’t wait to celebrate our day with you!

We met at West Marine, a boating retail store in Charleston, SC where we both worked. It was a mutual spark shared between the 2 of us initially, however, neither of us were ready for a relationship at the time. I worked truck crew at West Marine part time and he worked on the wholesale side of West Marine. We had small talk for a while (several months) then he found out I was single and he was also single. He started trying to talk to me more and I was the one that initiated a form of communication-snap chat.

Joey planned the whole surprise. He had contacted one of my best friends months prior to pick a weekend for her and her family to come for a visit. He also talked with my Mom and planned a surprise engagement party after. He took my friends and I out on the boat and we went to our favorite beach. We had a few hiccups along the way, hats flew off on the boat ride, Joey and I were not on the same page anchoring the boat on the beach (normally we are a well oiled machine working together on the boat). I had no clue what his problem was, I learned after it was nerves. As soon as we got on the beach our puppy Bodie was trying to get in seaweed grass so I was trying to get his attention and Joey was down on one knee. I had no clue people were circled around and a friend of ours was filming- I thought I got in the way of her Snapchat. Then I saw Joey on one knee and the first thing I said was “why are you doing this here…” haha I always thought he wanted to propose in private, not in front of people but he knew I would love that. Then we spent the afternoon enjoying the beach and the boat. On the way home he handed me a koozie that had “Engagement party” written on it and I said “whose party” then he told me about the surprise engagement party he planned for me and how he invited our close family and friends. I was so surprised and had no clue he had been planning this for over 6 months!
