Sometimes the timing is off. Sometimes meanings are lost or jokes are missed. Sometimes things just go wrong. Except sometimes, seemingly despite best efforts to the contrary, things somehow go just right. In April 2017, Adam was on vacation with family when his cousin Ruthie suddenly knew "just the girl" for him. Ruthie went to graduate school with Shayna's mom back in the '80s, and, in spite of Ruthie only meeting Shayna as a child, she knew "just the guy" for her. Shayna and Adam met for the first time at Blue Bottle Coffee in Bryant Park. Even after Shayna accidentally dropped ("threw") her coffee on the floor, neither could deny there was a connection. Still, life got in the way. Adam was studying for his medical boards. Shayna was busy working and living in NYC. The timing just was not right and they lost touch. One may have thought it was time to move on. It was not until three months later when Shayna reached back out with an impeccably eloquent "Hey, how are you?" And, so Shayna and Adam met again for a second shot at a first date. They shared a Thai iced tea and a long, sunset walk to Pier One, where they shared their first kiss. Still, after their next date was cancelled in haste, it took another month before they met again - for a third "first" date. It took mini golf, Curb Your Enthusiasm and a lot of Italian food, but suddenly the long summer and three first dates evolved into something more than anyone could have predicted. The third time was the charm; and ever since, Shayna and Adam have been happily ever #SHADAM. Nearly 2 years after they first met, Adam popped the question on a beautiful Saturday - March 9th, 2019 - at the location of their first kiss - Pier One on West 70th St. Given the COVID-19 crisis, Shayna and Adam have made the decision to change the date of their wedding celebration to December 11th, 2021. They will still be married on their original date of November 21st, 2020 in a small ceremony following current guidelines.
