Karo and Ruben met on the summer night of July 9th 2022, through a mutual friend at Main Memorial Park in Clifton NJ. The both of them instantly connected over the Coldplay song “Yellow”. The next day they went on their first date, a hike at Garret Mountain with Karo’s dog Gumby, followed by a good Peruvian restaurant. Funny enough Karo was 2 weeks away from moving far away before meeting Ruben, and Ruben was about 2 weeks away from possibly joining the seminary for priesthood! But God had different plans for these two! Their shared affinity for music, their love for nature & hiking, their similar taste in food, and wild even sometimes weird humor wouldn’t be the only things our newly weds shared in common. Both Karo and Ruben have lost both of their parents, Esmerelda and Jairo Aviles, & Carol Anne Diaz. With so many things these two share in common, the most important commonality by far is their belief and relationship with God. This was and has continued to be the foundation on which Karo and Ruben have built their relationship upon. Getting involved with their parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Ridgewood has been monumental in both Karo and Ruben’s life, particularly with joining The Neocatechumenal Way. Despite life’s challenges and changes, from loss of loved ones, to sickness and health, knowing that these two have Jesus to rely on has made all the difference in the world. Knowing that “With Christ all things are possible” - Matthew 19:26 Our couple wouldn’t be here today without the beautiful community at Church, great family and amazing friends God has blessed them with, people like you, who have made all the difference in the world.
