It was a warm early fall evening in Brussels, Belgium 2012. We met at the infamous Place Luxembourg. This square right in front of the European Parliament, where we both worked at the time, is famous for excessive alcohol consumption and fast hookups every Thursday night - to this day. Karolina was in a long distance relationship and Thomas was looking to have a fun evening. We were introduced by one of our friends, talked all evening and the sparks were flying immediately. It wouldn't be our last encounter!
It was in New York City. On that day we were just biking around and sightseeing. To Karo it seemed quite a normal day. In the evening we were supposed to go to our friend's "record release party" (good one Giulio) at the Wagner Hotel in Lower Manhattan. The party turned out to be a beautiful hotel room with red roses covering the bed and floor plus a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries on the table (thank you Katja for organizing this!). Thomas told Karo that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her and took out the most beautiful engagement ring - a 100 year old handmade ring from his grandmother. Karo had no other choice but to say .... Yes!
