We met in college, but we didn't think much about it because... well, we don't remember meeting! After our first year, we drifted apart a bit until we reconnected in the second semester of our sophomore year. We spent most nights driving around Canton, taking spontaneous road trips, having loud jam sessions, and getting on a first-name basis with all the fast food drive-through workers in the area. Slowly, our friendship grew into a relationship over the course of that semester. We've spent the last few years together full of laughter, friendship, and love, and we can't wait for the rest of our lives together!
Our first date was in my dorm room during our sophomore year. I spent a good amount of the day cleaning (boy, did it need it) in preparation for a movie night! I got all the necessary supplies for a successful movie night date: milkshake ingredients and cookie dough! Before we settled in for the movie, I made us milkshakes and failed cookies in a miniature waffle maker (dorm life lol). We sat down to watch Shutter Island, one of Meg's favorite movies (and now one of mine). As the movie ended, we began to talk about it, because the Foos kids LOVE a good debrief about something they love, and I didn't even know what to say. Was it more because I was nervous than because I was that speechless at the movie? The world may never know! The night ended with our first kiss thanks to a rain stick (IYKYK) and one of the world's most awkward goodnight hugs (again, IYKYK). But thankfully, I was able to recover from it and here we are now :) - Clay :)
We knew that we wanted to go on a hike and see the Niagara River on our weekend trip to The Falls, so naturally we chose the trail that had a million stairs and was blocked off by a mudslide. But in between the stairs and the mudslide, I had the best surprise of my life. After being instructed to look out at the water for a picture, I turned around to find Clay on one knee with a ring in his hand. I believe my first words were "are you joking?" to which he responded "does it look like I'm joking?" Once I got over my complete shock (I had absolutely no idea! And Clay said he didn't know he was going to do it until he was on one knee), I said yes! -Meg :)
