Jon and I met at a work get together for my last day working at the VA, where Jon was on Military COVID Orders. Originally, it was supposed to just be me and few of my close coworkers. When I found out some of the other people from the guard had wanted to come, I asked my coworker to invite the 'cute' one, too. I had only seen him in passing in the halls, and with a mask on. But Jon had the bluest eyes I have ever seen, which immediately caught my attention. That night, over drinks, Jon and I talked about anything and everything. We talked about what we were looking for in partners, things I wanted out of my next relationship, and we shared endless laughs. Jon spent that evening writing on a napkin, all the things I had said I wanted in my person. I was convinced pretty quickly that he was someone I wanted to see again. At the end of the night, Jon handed me a napkin with his phone number, and we said goodnight. The following weeks, while he was still in Kenosha, we spent time together every single day. Eventually, Jon's orders ended, and he was heading back home. I was pretty bold and asked him if he would ever consider moving to this area, not wanting to waste anyone's time. Jon told me he would consider it! After about 2 weeks away from each other, Jon came back down to visit me, and he told me he had thought about it- and yes, he wanted to move to the area. We took a leap of faith and moved in with each other July 1st of 2022- after only having officially been dating since that April . While we didn't have a conventional modern day start to our relationship, everything about my relationship with Jon has been effortless. We fell in love fast, head over heels, we chose each other every day right from the start. I love my life with Jon, from raising our puppy, to house projects, to endless laughs- I am so excited to discover what our future holds. I truly believe we will approach everything in life with the same open-hearted and belief in one another that began our love story.
