It all started from a simple Facebook Message... Brandon claims that Karly added him as a friend on Facebook (Karly thinks it was the other way around haha). Brandon asked his friend Cody, who Brandon supervised at work, about Karly. Cody, who was a former Campus Life kid of Karly's, explained how he knew her. Cody explained, "I know her through Campus Life (Youth for Christ). She was a leader. She is awesome, probably late 20s, pretty cool." Brandon then message Karly on Facebook, and the couple began to get to know each other. Brandon asked Karly to get Coffee or a Drink sometime. What was Karly's first response? "I have to ask. Are you wanting to meet to talk about my work (always recruiting volunteers you know ;)) or is this to get to know each other?" This led to a lunch date to Panera Bread. We consider this date our anniversary because we were committed to each other since this day. Brandon spent time from June to September asking Karly if she would be his girlfriend. Karly said no at least 3 times, but knew in her heart that Brandon was the man she was going to marry. In September, Karly asked Brandon, "Are we going to do this or what?" and Brandon said, "I have only been asking you for months."
On August 24th, 2019, Karly was holding the biggest secret you could imagine..... the gender of her sister, Kayla's, baby! Karly was in charge of the Gender Reveal Party and then surprising everyone with what the gender would be. Brandon could not make it to the party due to having to work. Little did she know, her family, friends, and Brandon were also keeping a secret. After surprising everyone at the party that Kayla said that she had a surprise for Karly and covered her eyes. Kayla then told Karly to open her eyes and there she saw Brandon holding a dozen roses. The first thing Karly could think of was that she was upset because Brandon missed the entire reveal. Then Brandon pulled out note cards (smart man!) and began referencing the Foreigner song "Waiting for a Girl Like You." Brandon then went on to read a poem that he wrote about Karly. The last sentence on his notecard said, "Get down on one knee now." Brandon then, in front of Karly's family and friends, asked her to marry him!!! Karly of course said yes!
