Mount Rushmore
One of the most iconic places here in the Hills. It's kind of a gimme that you have to see Mount Rushmore.
Custer State Park Spur
One of the most beautiful of places to take in all of the nature here in the Black Hills. Tyler and Karlie loved every minute they could get away and drive and hike through the Park.
Crazy Horse
One more iconic huge mountain sculpture in the Black Hills.
Sylvan Lake
No, Sylvan Lake is not directly behind the heads of Mount Rushmore, even though Disney would have you believe it. But it is definitely a place where you need to go - there are short hikes and longer hikes, each one just as beautiful as the last.
The Green Bean Coffeehouse
This was the coffee shop where Tyler and Karlie met for their first in person meeting. This is the place where it all started.
Steerfish Steak and Smoke
Once they had talked themselves hungry, Tyler and Karlie decided their first in person meeting needed to move on to dinner. This was the place where they went.
Firehouse Brewery
The food and drink at this restaurant is amazing!
Tally's Silver Spoon
Several breakfasts have been consumed at this wonderful little spot. But be prepared for a bit of a wait -- it's worth it.
Watiki Way
If you enjoy water parks, this one is a great place to go. Tyler and his son Christopher enjoyed this place numerous times before Tyler and Karlie started dating. After moving in together, their apartment had a swimming pool, so the water park wasn't as necessary, but it's certainly still a fun time for everyone!
South Dakota Air and Space Museum
With Tyler having spent a couple years at Ellsworth AFB, and Karlie's father's deep love of airplanes, how could this place be left off of the list?
Reptile Gardens
This is another amazing location to visit. Fun for kids and adults!
Chapel in the Hills
This little chapel is a gorgeous place to visit! Tyler and Karlie loved it when they were able to go!
Dinosaur Park
One of Karlie's all time favorite places to go as a kid.
Rushmore Cave Road
The Black Hills are known for their numerous cave systems, and the beauty that they entail. Tyler and Karlie have been able to visit some of them. If you have a chance, you should too.
Museum @ Black Hills Institute
Tyler and Karlie love dinosaurs. Tyler and Karlie also love rocks. This place is one great location for both!
Devils Tower-National Monument Road
It's a bit further out, but if you have a spare day to do something, Devil's Tower is worth the drive.
Storybook Island
Kids and adults love Storybook Island. Karlie has loved it her entire life.
Jewel Cave
Another one of the stunning caves in the Black Hills.
South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Museum of Geology
This place was another of Karlie's favorite places as a kid. Many fun times were had here by her and her family over the years.
Spearfish Falls
One of Tyler and Karlie's first dates was at Spearfish Falls. Seeing that you will be here in the spring, you should be fortunate that the water will be running swiftly, and the foliage will be lush.
D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery & Archives
This is right down the street from the City Park. Don't forget some change to get some food to feed the fish!
Spearfish Canyon Highway
If you do nothing else when you are here, make sure you drive up the Canyon. There is truly nothing else like it on Earth.
Iron Creek Lake
A lovely spot to enjoy the water, the beach, fishing, being - Tyler and Karlie were falling for each other pretty hard when they first went to this beautiful location.
Oyster Bay
Karlie loves karaoke, and this was the first bar in Deadwood where she sang. This was also where she had her 40th birthday event. This was also where Tyler and Karlie first said "I love you" to each other. So it holds a special place in their hearts.
Greenfield Pub
This pub is another fun place to go - great owners, great beer, great karaoke.
