Karley and Javon have always been in each other’s lives. Growing up in Detroit and Metro Detroit, they shared similar interests as kids and even attended the same congregation during their late teen years. Their overlapping friend groups made it easy for them to connect, and they quickly became friends who enjoyed each other’s company in group settings never thinking too much of it. Eventually, life took them in different directions. Javon switched congregations, and they saw each other less often. Time passed, and although they remained distant friends, they were living separate lives—until they saw each other after a extended period of time at a friend’s baby shower during the COVID-19 pandemic.. With the world shut down, more intimate gatherings were happening, and something about seeing each other again sparked a new interest. When they saw each other again… let’s just say grown hit different. What started as a rekindled friendship soon blossomed into a genuine relationship at the age of 23. It was their first serious relationship, full of growth and learning. Though they eventually went their separate ways, time apart allowed for deep self-reflection, personal, and spiritual growth. Almost 3 years later, their paths crossed again—and this time, everything aligned. They realized what they had was worth fighting for. They had found love and a beautiful friendship in each other once more and have been inseparable ever since.
