After following each other and talking on social media at the recommendation of a mutual friend (thanks Renee!), the two decided to meet in person at a local bar to celebrate Karley's birthday. After arriving at the bar, Brandon quickly realized he wasn't brave enough to make the first move so Karley had to take matters into her own hands. Luckily, she knew the way straight to his heart. One Busch Light and a couple Fireball shots later, the two got to talking and they never stopped!
Karley had always dreamed of a 4th of July proposal. The warm summer night, the fireworks, friends and family all around. Sounds heavenly right? Brandon made sure he had plenty of time to plan the perfect proposal (7.5 years to be exact but who's counting). Of course, doing it ON the 4th of July would be too easy... she would be expecting that. So instead, Brandon took Karley, the kids, and some of their closest friends out for a fun filled day boating on Mark Twain Lake. The weather was perfect, the drinks were cold, and the company couldn't have been better. That night, there was a huge fireworks show at Clarence Cannon Dam that could best be viewed from the lake. Brandon made sure the group arrived early to find the perfect spot to anchor and not-so-patiently waited for the firework show to start. Shortly after sunset, the sparks started flying! Karley was completely oblivious to what was about to happen and snuggled in close to Brandon's side to enjoy the show. Just as the finale was beginning, Brandon peeled himself away and took his position on one knee. Karley was enthralled with the show in front of her though and didn't notice Brandon's position until he tapped her on the back of the leg. Karley turned around to find Brandon down on one knee with a gorgeous ring in his hand. To this day, she still has no idea what exactly he said to her beneath the explosion of fireworks but surely it was something along the lines of "Will you marry me?" And I think we all know what her answer was!
