We met on a dating app, Hinge, while we were both students at Penn State in the fall of 2018. After messaging back and forth for a few days, we both decided to return from Thanksgiving break early to have our first date at Federal Taphouse, a restaurant right off campus. Fun fact; Rob still has the receipt! Two more dates were locked in before the night ended and before we knew it, we were inseparable by the end of the semester. "When I first met her, I remember thinking that she was beautiful, well-spoken and very energetic" - Rob's first impression of Emma "When I first met him, I thought that he was really cute, but shy. Little did I know that once I got to know him, he was one of the most outgoing and hilarious people I've ever met" - Emma's first impression of Rob
It was the first day of spring. Rob woke up early that Sunday morning to go to his hockey class at Chelsea Piers. I was off to meet my friends Grace and Clarie to have brunch in the West Village. While we were snapping pictures of our eggs benedict and mimosas, Rob was sprinting back to our apartment, almost missing the subway, to get ready for the big surprise. After brunch, Grace realized she needed to buy us more time and pulled us into an Irish pub around the corner to stall. We all took lemon drop shots and then were on our way back to Hoboken. Meanwhile, Rob was waiting by the water on Pier A with the photographer and a small crowd of people who were eager to watch. "Let's walk along the water since it's such a nice day out," said Claire. I looked at her suspiciously but went along anyways. After a few steps, I saw Rob standing at the end of the pier looking handsome as ever with a bouquet of pink roses. My heart skipped several beats and time slowed down to what felt like hours before I finally reached him. It was at that moment that he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Of course, I said "Yes!", and we were engaged. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
