I’ve never been to an Indian wedding before. What should I expect?

Answer

Traditionally, Indian weddings tend to be relatively large and span over a couple of days. There will be lots of customs embedded throughout all the events, but generally it's all about partying hard! While family members and close friends may have a role, the remainder of the guests are invited to sit back and enjoy.

What should I wear?

Answer

You are welcome to wear any semi-formal outfit of your choosing, but if you are interested in wearing an Indian outfit, that will be more that welcome! There are several different types of Indian outfits, and there's no specific requirements for what types of outfits should be worn to which events. We do encourage you to wear bright and bold colors! One important note: Avoid red! (that's the Indian bridal color)

Indian wedding ceremonies typically last about an hour. The ceremony has many traditions and prayers that the bride and groom must complete to bless the beginning of an auspicious life together.
