Maddie is Maddy's best friend and mother to the best nephew, Stewie. They met in high school track & field under Coach Wachter's direction- Go Sabers. Maddie and Maddy share many things in common, including a competitive spirit, a great sense of humor, extraordinary dance moves, and their loyalty to one another. What they do not share is a bra size.
Christian Wachter
Best Man
Christian is Karl's older brother. Separated by 6 years, Karl loved competing with his older brother and his friends. Whether it was learning to skateboard, building a treehouse at grandpa and grandmas house, playing pick-up basketball at the community center, or snowboarding through the trees of Colorado, Christian is a big influence in the person that Karl is today.
Becky Thayer
Maid of Honor
Becky and Maddy united in early adulthood, bonding over what it meant to be new nurses in the pediatric cardiovascular ICU. They continue to work side-by-side, though some might call it 'horsing around'. Their friendship is rooted in many trips, including whipping around the mountains of Yosemite in a rented Mini-Cooper and buttering the slopes in Colorado. Maddy's favorite quality about Becky is her ability to keep her well fed.
Tony Smith
Groomsman
Tony was Karl's roommate and teammate in college, and is his best friend. Between getting nosebleeds on cold morning runs, Harry Potter movie marathons, and countless breakfasts at The View, Tony and Karl spent a lot of free time together and continue to stay close after college. Tony played a key role early in Maddy and Karl's relationship by volunteering to drive them to see each other most weekends freshman year, which they are forever grateful for.
Amanda Beinhorn
Bridesmaid
Amanda is Maddy's older cousin (emphasis on old). She has been Maddy's person to look up to since she could walk, and continues be one of her favorite sources of connection and inspiration. Maddy's favorite memories with her include cleaning up the aftermath of putting liquid dish soap in the dishwasher as well as dominating her in leg wrestling at Christmas.
Sam Karlson
Groomsman
Sam and Karl were teammates at the University of St. Thomas where they bonded over their love for running long distances. Sam (Samka) was always willing to coordinate the team social gatherings and could often be found curating the music playlist. After college, the two have continued to share countless bogies on the golf course together.
Estefi Wachter
Honor Attendant
Estefi is Karl's sister-in-law and Maddy's hermana morena. She became part of the Wachter family in 2021 and has been primarily responsible for strengthening our foundation of vulgar Spanish vocabulary. Maddy experienced the highs of sisterhood for the first time when she and Estefi went kayaking in the Pacific ocean just two days after meeting for the first time, yelling at each other in fear of capsizing. We are deeply grateful for the bond and laughs that have come since then.
