The wedding will be Saturday May 25th at French Regional Park - Moraine Picnic Shelter in Plymouth Minnesota. The address is 12605 Rockford Road, Plymouth MN 55441. We will start gathering at 11am with a ceremony at 12pm followed by a picnic-style meal at 12:30 or so. Kids are welcome! We have the picnic shelter reserved until 9pm. If you would like to come and hang out earlier, we'll be setting up starting at 9am.
No, passes are not required for entry of this park (French Regional).
Lots of free parking. In fact, there are 109 spaces (we counted them!) and 5 handicapped accessible spaces too. There are also nearby lots with many spaces (that we did not count).
We know getting sitters is a pain and that it may be frowned upon to just leave kids at home alone if they're unable to care for themselves. So yes, please bring your kids if you wish. Fortunately there is also one of the largest playgrounds we have ever seen very near the picnic shelter! The wedding party may even find themselves there too. As for dogs, yes, but they'll have to be on leash the whole time and may not get along with everyone or other dogs. For that reason, our two pups will relax at home with a sitter. Plus, they've seen us together every day so this isn't that big of a deal to them. Now that I think about it, this same advice may apply to kids too. Heh. Yes, absolutely, you can bring a guest! Invitations may not have specified, but your guest, significant other, family, etc. are welcome. Just please RSVP for all people to ensure that we have enough food.
It's the kind where people get married, but more specifically, we are considering this more like a big picnic that happens to have an informal wedding in the middle of it. Therefore, we want you to all be comfortable. As this is OUTSIDE, dress comfortably and for the weather. Picnic tables are abundant but we'll also provide blankets to sit on, or if you wish, bring your own! There is a covered shelter that can seat about 200 people if we're okay being close. If weather gets bad there is an enclosed building nearby. But, expect to be outside. Lots of trees and trails are nearby too. Again, this is a casual affair. We just want to bring our friends and family together for a day of celebration and figured that we might as well get married, too.
No. That's why this is a wedding.
19 years.
We aren't and won't be. At this point in our lives we've pretty much got everything we need, which is each other (awwww). But really, we don't want anything other than our family and friends to join us on this day. We will accept cards if you feel you must bring something, and there will be guest book.
Food will be provided with plenty of options available. As we are doing this more like a picnic event than a formal wedding, there'll be picnic style foods. We will have grilled pork chops, veggie Paella, hotdogs for the kids, and lots of side dishes and beverages to choose from. It'll be a serve yourself kind of affair. We'll also provide baggies for anyone who wants to bring leftovers home.
There are five known food allergies (at this time) among invited guests: Peanuts, Tomatoes, Onions, Sesame, and Fish. Any foods with these will be clearly labeled. We will do our best to keep utensils with dishes to avoid cross contamination.
Yes and yes! We love having lots of freedom and options. As we get closer to the wedding date we can provide a more comprehensive food list. If you want to share a dish for the event, let us know! And if you do, please write the ingredients for any allergies.
No, you don't have to bring anything! We should have plenty of food provided by the family who have already volunteered.
Something comfortable and appropriate for a day out in the park, playing games, and/or volleyball. Bring a swimsuit if you'd like to try the nearby beach (though it is Minnesota in May, so the lake may be a bit on the chilly side).
Aside from the playground for the kids (see above), there's a sand volleyball court and horseshoes. We'll also have yard games and tabletop games to play. There are also a lot of hiking trails and a nice lake nearby for swimming. If you have any yard games or tabletop games you wish to bring, please do! If you are interested, Karl will be hosting a 5k Fun Run on Friday May 24th at 10am at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis (at the Main beach) for anyone who wants to run with him. Prizes will be given - mostly just for coming to run.
We hope it won't but as this is Minnesota, that's always a possibility. The covered picnic shelter can seat over 200 people to keep us all dry. If the weather gets really bad, there's a storm shelter / enclosed building a couple hundred feet away that we can hide in.
Let us know if you are and we'll work with you to find a place!
