We're getting married!

Sam and I met at NJCU, as soon as I saw him I fell in love with him. We were in the honors program together, we were paired together for group projects, homework and community service hours but he was never interested. I think he was intimidated by my outgoing personality since he was so shy and I was so open. Anyways years pass, I leave the program and decide to go to TCNJ. One random night my friend came back from Paris and said to pass by and see him. Who was he with?? Sam! Out of random I hug him outside of Applebee's and that is when everything started for us. Mind you I have never hugged him in my life, that gut feeling to do so brought us here. We talked everyday, he helped me move in to TCNJ and the rest is history.

Ah, proposing to Karla. Well, this was fun to do, to be honest. Karla and I were going on vacation in August of 2021 and she had told me she expected a ring because now that she graduated with her masters she felt ready to get married so everyone expected me to do it on vacation. I had another plan. I never wanted her to know when I was going to do it because I love surprises and she always tries to figure out when I’m going to do nice things for her. Anyways, I thought of having the proposal during her graduation party where she was inviting family from all over. Now I know she always told me and everyone that she didn’t want to have a proposal in front of a lot of people, but this was her family so I thought it was different. I also didn’t want to outshine her graduation party so I waited till the end of the night. I thought since I was going to be playing the piano at the graduation party, why not play one of our songs from when we started dating and change up the lyrics a little where the ending would be asking for her hand in marriage. I needed help so who else to help me out other than one of my best men Enrique who is phenomenal at the guitar. So I approached him with the idea and we practiced and planned it out together. The day of the graduation party finally came and man was I nervous. Also on top of that, it rained so much that day that it made me even more anxious because I needed it to be perfect. Now Karla still hates me for this but that day I barely helped out with the party because I had to focus on how I was going to do it and I kept going to Enrique and Caio to calm me down. It’s 9:45 at night and I say alright it’s show time. It starts pouring, I start shaking, I ask Jessica to come help me out with the microphone so I can play the piano while singing the lyrics to her. The moment was so surreal it felt like I was floating on the clouds with her and while the rain poured on her umbrella all I could focus on was pulling out the ring and then seeing how she would react. As I went down on one knee and said “Marry Me” I could see Karla’s face in shock as she didn’t expect it and I loved that because I badly wanted to surprise her. When she finally said yes my heart was racing and I was beyond happy. This is when I hugged her so tight and then realized that I had done that. I thought I would be more nervous doing it in front of her entire family and friends but when I sang to her it felt like no one in the world existed but her and me. I loved that day, it was amazing, and to see it played back always makes me cry. That was our proposal, I loved it.
