At least three days in advance is advised! Considering the time change, please note that travel to Greece generally requires a day and a half to two days for arrival. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you arrive at least three days prior to our wedding to mitigate any potential flight delays or inconveniences. For instance, our journey began at LAX, departing at 8 PM on Monday. We had a layover in Heathrow followed by another layover in Athens, resulting in our arrival at 8 AM on Wednesday. It's essential to keep in mind that, due to the time change, you may want to consider breaking up the flight—especially if you're traveling with children. Spending one night at either of the layover locations can make the journey more manageable. If you decide to stay in London, please be aware that a visa is required, which costs approximately 20 British pounds. You can find more information about obtaining the visa on the official government website. It's important to mention that not all flights will take as long as ours did; we intentionally opted for a longer layover in Heathrow to take advantage of duty-free shopping.
I will be planning to get a SHUTTLE BUS to and from FIRA for the day of the wedding to help coordinate with transportation.. If you’d like to make a specific request, pick up and drop off from your hotel in a different area, please contact my wedding planner ahead of time. Please RSVP for shuttle transport by August 1, 2026
Yes and no. The roads are very narrow and two-way, making for a tricky driving experience. Only rent a car if you are a good driver and patient. Renting a car in Santorini can be advantageous, but it’s important to consider your preferences and travel plans: - **Flexibility**: Explore the island at your own pace, accessing hidden gems and less touristy areas. - **Convenience**: Easily travel between major spots like Oia, Fira, and the beaches without relying on public transport. - **Comfort**: Enjoy the convenience of your own vehicle, especially in warm weather. **Considerations** include the challenges of narrow roads, potential parking difficulties in busy areas, and the overall cost of rental, insurance, and fuel. **Alternatives** to consider are public transport, ATVs, scooters for a more adventurous experience, or guided tours for those who prefer not to drive. In summary, renting a car can enhance your Santorini experience if you’re comfortable with driving in challenging conditions.
