English: TJ Airport is the closest, about 1.5 to 2 hours by car to the Valle. San Diego International Airport SAN is very convenient if you plan to use CBX to access flights at TJ Airport. For international flights, San Diego International Airport SAN or Los Angeles International Airport LAX are strong options with more routes. Driving from LAX is roughly 4 to 5 hours. You must have a TJ Airport boarding pass and your passport. Buy a CBX ticket online or on site, follow the signs, clear immigration, and walk across. You do not need to cross on the same day as your flight. CBX accepts travelers with a valid TJ Airport boarding pass within its allowed time window. Using CBX is recommended if you will fly from TJ Airport afterward or arrive into TJ Airport and want to reach San Diego smoothly. CBX operates 24 hours. English: Bring a valid passport. If you arrive by air to a Mexican airport, you will complete immigration and receive an entry record often referred to as an FMM. If traveling by land for a short visit within Baja California, the FMM is generally not requested. If driving, carry your driver license, vehicle registration, and Mexican auto liability insurance. English: Renting a car is convenient if you plan to explore wineries. You can rent a car in Mexico or in the United States and cross the border if your rental agreement allows it and you purchase Mexican insurance. Uber Valle goes both ways between Tijuana and the Valle, with prices that may vary from about 100 to 150 euros or 2,000 to 3,000 pesos per way depending on timing and vehicle. We will run regular round trip shuttles between our recommended hotels and all event venues. If you need private drivers or vans for groups, we can arrange that shortly before the event and our wedding planner will coordinate it. English: Mexican liability insurance is required. If you are traveling through the U.S, you can buy a Mexican policy online, at the border, or through some rental agencies. Some U.S. rental locations near the border do allow driving into Baja California with written permission and a Mexico insurance add on. Always confirm in writing with the agency. English: Yes, Highway 1D has toll plazas. Bring cash. U.S. dollars in cash and pesos are equally accepted throughout the state, including at tolls. English: June and July often see higher demand due to the World Cup and summer travel. Even though our dates are after the final, prices and availability can still be tighter than usual, so plan ahead. Aim for three to four months ahead for hotels and flights. English: Restaurants and wineries, 10 to 15 percent is customary, 15 to 20 percent for excellent service. Drivers, about 10 to 20 percent of the fare. Hotel staff, about 20 to 50 pesos per bag. English: Use caution at night since some roads are unlit and can be uneven. Most main routes are paved, and a few access roads to vineyards are compacted dirt.
