So prior to meeting Aramiz, he and I both went to the same middle school and had mutual friends but never met. Eventually when we went to high school we found ourselves on social media and became friends but never actually talked. I always thought he was very handsome, but he went to a different high school than me. We continued on with our lives and finally met when I went out to celebrate my college graduation. My friends and I went to a club in Downtown Riverside. Coincidentally, he was going out the celebrate his 22nd birthday that weekend at the same club I decided to go to. I didn't see him until the club was nearing its close and they were turning the lights on. Aramiz tells me that as soon as he walked in, he looked to his left and there I was sitting on the bench with the light shining down on me. I instantly caught his attention but he didn't recognize me. As soon as the club ended, he said he saw me again and remembered that I had just posted on Instagram about my graduation. He came up to me and said that he recognized me from Instagram and congratulated me for my graduation. I was definitely puzzled at the moment until he showed me the picture that he liked and then it all clicked for me as well. We talked a bit but then had to go home. The next day I decided to message him and it just so happened that I messaged him on his birthday. He always tells me that I was his gift sent from God that year and that it was the best gift he's ever received. We officially met on April 22, 2018 and he asked me to be his girlfriend exactly two months after.
I remember walking into Kay Jewelers on August 20th, 2021 with one goal in mind and that was leaving with an engagement ring. Knowing that I would leave there with the opportunity to ask my best friend to marry me made buying that ring the easiest thing I ever had to do. Karla had mentioned to me how it would be a dream come true for her to get proposed to on the beach, in the summer, and I would be caught dead before I failed to make that dream a reality for her. Now, buying the ring was the easy part. Mustering up the confidence to go talk to her parents about my plans to marry their daughter and ask for their blessing was a different story. You just want them to know how much you love their daughter and that she is going to be in the best of hands because that is what she deserves. I felt that if I was just myself and expressed how much she truly meant to me, everything else would come naturally. And it was exactly that, only I cried halfway through the first sentence about how much I loved their daughter and as I brought out the ring. Loving her was just as natural as breathing and I wanted them to know that is how I felt. I expressed to them how I would always put her first, protect her, be there for her, and do absolutely anything for her. And trust me, that was very hard to say without crying, but it's okay because her parents cried a lot too. Now we get to the good stuff! Planning the proposal on 9-17-21. It was planned as just a regular beach trip with her family that just so happened to be on the week before Summer ended. Karla and I would drive separately and meet them there. That was the longest car ride of my entire life. Minutes felt like hours and the closer we got to the beach, the less I felt that I was able to breathe. Nothing can prepare you for that feeling and looking back, it was just the overwhelming love that I have for her wanting to make sure everything went perfectly. After we walked down Crystal Cove, she was surprised to see both of our families there. Only to see a trail of rose pedals that led us to the next step of our lives, which started with hearing her say yes to "Karla Sophia Luna, will you marry me?"
