Mehendi (Henna) and Turmeric Ceremony

This event is semi-formal.
There will be a choice of Indian food and Giordano's pizza. This event will include mehendi (henna) application to the hands if you would like to participate in this Indian tradition. Guests will also apply haldi (turmeric) paste to the bride and groom to bless them with prosperity and happiness.

Baarat and Hindu Wedding Ceremony

If you are on the groom's side, please join us in the Baarat! The Baarat is the groom's procession into the wedding ceremony. It will begin outdoors at the Burr Ridge Marriott. The groom, his family, and his friends dance along to music and arrive in style to be greeted by the bride's side. Look out for Phil on horseback! If you are on the bride's side, you are more than welcome to join the singing and dancing to greet the groom. The Hindu ceremony will then take place on the patio.
Cocktail Hour and Sangeet
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Dinner will be served at the sangeet. There will be an Indian vegetarian buffet to enjoy as well as an open bar. A sangeet ceremony is an Indian wedding tradition that celebrates the union of two families. Guests enjoy a colorful celebration filled with music, dancing, and performances. It is typically held a day or two before the Hindu ceremony, but our sangeet will double as a traditional ceremony and the first of our receptions. Please join us in dancing garba and raas, traditional dance styles from Gujarat!
