We're Getting Married!

In July of 2015, 3 months into my working career, I attended a Welcome to ExxonMobil course with a group of new hires. I specifically remember a table with a group of fresh college graduate boys who were focused on being the class clowns and cracking all the jokes. I found myself annoyed with their rowdiness throughout the course and was ready to get back to work. Little did I know that my future husband was sitting at that table. Tom and I were eventually introduced through our coworkers while he trained in Houston where I lived. As soon as new hire training was done, Tom was relocated to Philadelphia. It seems that God himself decided to intersect our paths again because 6 months later, I was also relocated to Philadelphia. Tom quickly grew to be my best friend in Philadelphia but he was adamant that we should be more. I was too focused on work to budge and wanted to keep work professional. Tom proved to be the most determined and patient man in the world as he pursued me over the next two years. By Christmas 2017, Tom was pretty weary of putting up with me pushing him away, but even then, he felt the need to ask one more time. At that point, I couldn’t say no....so we finally went on a real first date. Let’s just say that it went pretty well. I loved that he asked me my stance on religion, politics, and other controversial topics already knowing the answers but confirming that we were aligned. This man was not going to waste any more time. We dated in Philadelphia for 8 months before I was relocated to Minneapolis. After long distance dating for 1.5 years, Tom proposed in Fredericksburg, TX at a gorgeous vineyard. Of course I said YES. And here we are after over 5 years since I noticed him sitting at the boys new hire table making cheesy jokes. I guess his jokes were pretty good because I am signing up for a lifetime of them.
