When it started

1.04.18

Her Story: When he met my family. That's when it became serious for me. It was almost a year after we started dating that he met my mom. He promised to bring a dish for my mom so he decided to make his famous guacamole, but then he decided to make an extra dish for her because she was vegetarian. The dish was Green Beans & Almonds (made sure there was no onions for Maria), and you wouldn't think a dish like this will make you run late, but since my future fiancé was making it he thought he was cutting corners. He calls me slightly freaking out because black pepper spilled all over the green beans, but then he tells me , " I didn't realize cutting almonds would be so hard, but the sliced ones were so EXPENSIVE." I started laughing and thought to myself, yup this is the guy I am going to end up with. He will work hard to make my family happy, but also save money when it's needed. His Story: I knew it was real when they invited me to church for the first time. I dressed up and drove to their house in the morning. We drove to church in the same car after their mom prayed for our safe journey. We arrived in one piece, no doubt thanks to Felicidad's prayer, and walked in where we were all greeted; Karina and her family were greeted in Spanish and upon seeing my complexion, they greeted me in English. I proceeded to receive an entire sermon in Spanish, a language I don't speak. But I knew this meant a lot to Karina and her family, and Karina meant a lot to me. It was worth it to show her mom how serious I was about her daughter.

The Proposal

12.15.22

Every year we secretly made a pact to go to the Botanical Gardens for the Holiday Lights. It became one of our favorite times of the year. It was one of our first dates The proposal, oh man the proposal. Having bought the ring in July, I knew I wanted to propose that year and not wait until our "First Date" anniversary the following year. Maria suggested I should propose on our annual Botanical Gardens Christmas Lights event. We were set to meet at 5:30 downtown in Atlanta on a Thursday Night which wasn't the best idea since that is traffic hour which made everyone late. I tried to keep my cool but I think Karina sensed something bigger was happening since I tend to keep my cool in stressful situations. Luckily Karina called Botanical Gardens and they allowed a 3 hour grace time. I didn't know where to propose, her sister and friends kept giving me spots, but I wanted a spot that didn't have a huge crowd. When I finally decided to propose, an old co-worker of hers came out of no where and ruined my flow. I had to wait for less people to be around the spot I wanted to kneel down on one knee and then I did it! I proposed to my babe and she quickly said yes to my "Ayo baby, can you be my forever baby" (inside joke of ours).
