It's kind of a funny story. I met Adam during my last year of high school, right before I became one of his youth leaders at church. To me, he was just a quirky kid. But little did I know that he would change my life forever.
Growing up, I never learned how to ride a bike. I hoped that the man I would marry would teach me how to ride a bike. One Friday night, I mentioned this to Adam and he immediately pulled out a bike from his trunk. I didn't think it to be possible, but he taught me how to ride a bike. It was right there that I fell deeply in love with him.
We went to Japan together to visit two of our friends who were living there at the time. On one of our last days, we had made plans to go to the Borderless Digital Art Museum. I was so excited to see the lantern room because all the photos I've seen were so magical. Geoff had pulled me aside to distract me by getting me to "pose" for a photo that was being taken by his wife, Niki. I could see Adam in one of the mirrors behind me. I didn't think anything of the fact that he was down on one knee. I actually thought he was tying his shoe! I heard him say my name with such conviction that I thought something was wrong! It took a few moments to register that he was on one knee with a ring in his hand. He asked me to marry him and I responded with "are you serious?" before I stood there just staring at him. According to Adam, this was the longest 10 seconds of his life. Finally, I said yes!
