The easiest way to get to Medellin is to fly into José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) which is about 20 kilometers south-east of Medellín. The good news is that Uber is the preferred mode of transportation in the second-largest city in Colombia.

The Click Clack is an excellent option if you want a modern European feel for your stay at Medellin. The hotel has over 100+ rooms from all sizes to "fit" your needs. The rooms are labeled like clothing sizes from XS-XXL. Richard and I stayed at an XS; we recommend couples to stay in rooms S and up, as we thought that the XS was a bit too cozy. Pros: Amazing rooftop bar/pool area with a sick view, great breakfast options, great onsite restaurants and bars, and top-notch safety. Cons: Tiny bathrooms/showers, strict visiting rules- only hotel guests are allowed in the rooms, proper dress code enforced to keep the integrity of the hotel's "vibe," so no eating breakfast in pajamas.

Medellin Marriott Hotel

The Marriott is a luxurious option for someone who wants top-notch security, and an American quality stay in Medellin. You will not feel homesick at this hotel. The amenities include everything a 5-star American hotel is known for; spacious, clean rooms with luxurious cotton sheets, a gym, a pool, restaurants, and bars on-site. Pros: A five-star buffet breakfast is included. A steep military/government discount is offered. Cons: A 1.3 km/0.8 mile walk away from the other hotels and attractions in El Poblado, but nothing a $1-2 Uber ride or a Dodge* can't fix. *Dodge = Dodge pies (lousy dad joke for dos pies/two feet)

The Somos

The Somos is a great affordable option. The rooms are spacious, and breakfast is included at their incredibly cute Café Mosquito Social Basement (https://www.thesomos.com/coffee-bar). Pros: Clean, spacious, and new hotel at a great price. Two rooms per floor, so bothersome neighbors aren't an issue. Laidback and friendly atmosphere; you'll leave with new friends at the front desk. The hotel has a rooftop bar, Mosquito lounge, with super sick view and vibe is open. Cons: Noise from nightlife can be heard from the room, but they do offer earplugs. Only 14 rooms, so book quickly because they will run out. Breakfast was a little slow during the morning "rush hour," we recommend waking up early.
