Neither Kari nor Andy can remember the first time they met. It most likely occurred in 1996 when both were still afflicted with "cooties." They were friends, sharing childhood memories from Kindergarten through 12th grade. In the summer of 2013 after college graduation, Andy was back home from West Point and Kari was studying for nursing boards. They went fishing in Queeny Park one afternoon and realized what a catch the other was. However, the timing was not right and they ended the summer still friends. The years passed, and they grew older and wiser. New Year’s Eve, 2016, Andy was home from Germany and they found themselves at the same party. Kari held out until the next day to give him a New Year’s kiss. Andy had to go back to Germany, but this time they realized distance was not the same obstacle it once was. Keeping the New Year's spark aflame, Kari traveled 4000+ miles to Germany to visit Andy. It was during this visit they committed to make it work even though it wouldn't be easy. Kari had to return to the states to start anesthesia school, but they stayed connected to one other. Eventually the distance shortened. When his military career came to an end, Andy moved from the Little Apple in Manhattan, Kansas to the Big Apple in New York City to start Columbia Business School. After graduation, Kari packed her bags and moved from Nashville to NYC and they were finally dating in the same city. On April 16, 2022, Andy popped the big question. And it was no surprise when Kari said yes.
