I was at a bar with some friends (Tijuana Picnic) in NYC when Darius came over to talk to me (with Andy as his wingman). He asked if I wanted a drink or to dance and I said no to both! But then he asked where I was from (wise guy), I said I was from Peru and then we hit it off. About 5 minutes later my friends came over and said that they wanted to go to another bar so I had to say goodbye. He luckily asked for my number and the rest is history!
Our first date lasted over 10 hours! We definitely broke a record here. We were supposed to go for frozen margaritas at Fresh Kills bar in Williamsburg, but it was closed! So we went to another bar, had a couple of drinks, played a few games (connect four - I won) and then when the date was about to end, Darius asked if I wanted to walk around and have another drink. We walked around Brooklyn, went to a few bars and ended the date at the Domino Park overlooking the NYC skyline. Beautiful!
I took Karen on a nice dinner at the Atlantic in Martha's Vineyard and then asked if she wanted to go and watch the sunset at Menemsha beach. Little did she know that I had hired a photographer to capture the moment we arrived at the beach and I went on one knee. She was so surprised with everything and after she said yes and we hugged, everyone at the beach clapped and congratulated us for our engagement. It was a day we will never forget!
We decided Covid19 wouldn't stop us, so WE GOT MARRIED! We had a private but beautiful ceremony in NJ with family and closest friends, celebrating love, life and everything in between. Looking forward to celebrate as well with Karen's family and all of our friends again in Peru in 2022!
Last December we welcomed our first born into this world. Denzel is everything we could have ever asked for and more. He didn't want to be a 2022 baby so he decided to come a few days early and surprise mommy and daddy and all the family.
