Our friend Elsa introduced us in April 2022. I (Karen) had told Elsa I was willing to be set up with someone, but thought it would be with someone local, not in a foreign country! Elsa had just returned from a trip to Ethiopia and said she had someone for me to meet. Endale and I were open to getting to know each other, but we never suspected our relationship would take off as quickly as it did. I went to visit Yirgalem (Endale) for the first time in July 2022. He proposed to me at the end of my trip. We applied for a Fiancé Visa in September 2022 and are waiting for this to be approved so we can marry in the US.
