We met online and had our first date at Ichiban (a local sushi restaurant). We had a great time and he was a perfect gentleman. A few days later, he left for Scotland for a two week vacation. He was worried I would move on to someone else while he was gone, but we stayed in contact throughout his trip, We met up for dinner again as soon as he returned, and the rest is history! I knew he was special the moment we met and was totally worth the wait!
I was getting ready for "dinner with his mom" when he asked me to help him get something out of the car. We went outside, I opened the back door, and there was a balloon with a clue attached. The clue led to the parade grounds at LSU (my alma mater). Game on. We drove to campus and were greeted by another balloon with another clue, which led to another and another. We hopped around campus collecting balloons and clues, and ultimately ended up at Tiger Stadium. Standing right outside the gate were a bunch of our friends holding flowers and even MORE balloons! Obviously I knew something was up at this point, but we were just getting started. We all took a private tour of the stadium and got to go out onto the field. While I was looking around, he managed to sneak a final balloon onto the Tiger Eye on the 50-yard line. When I picked up the balloon, he got down on one knee, gave me the sweetest speech the stadium has ever heard, and asked me to marry him. Of course I SAID YES!! We then met up with our families and even more friends for dinner, and I got to hear the story of how he planned this whole thing. All of our friends were in on it, and this story wouldn't be complete without mention of the month-long group text message (containing over 1000 texts) that was required to coordinate this whole operation (which they called Operation Ornament). I couldn't have asked for a better way to "kick off" our marriage!
