Our story started 7 years ago, when Jake and I met at a birthday party, in Fresno, our hometown. At this time, Jake was a couple of weeks away from leaving to boot camp. So we went on a date a few days before he left. Dinner, coffee & a walk on a chilly winter evening. It was perfect. Not knowing where life would take us, we each continued our own ways. It was about 4 months later that Jake & I got in contact again. He was coming back to be stationed in California! After getting to know each other & spending more time together, we made it official. (Feels like just yesterday!) It was on September 23rd 2012, that Jake asked me to be his girlfriend! Shortly after I started school to become a respiratory therapist. Our relationship remained long distance throughout my schooling but distance never got in the way of us being together. Our relationship was by no means perfect, but we made every effort to see each other as often as possible. After making it over our first hurdle we proved our love was not just a fling. I graduated in 2014 and began my career by moving to Monterey, working as a respiratory therapist and living on my own for the first time. Jake would travel to visit me on his days off every couple weeks. He and I both agreed that this is where our relationship grew the strongest. However, distance was a factor. After almost 2 years in Monterey, I closed the gap by moving to Sacramento (45 minutes from where he is stationed) and for the first time Jake and I got to see each other on a weekly basis. We grew even closer and we both loved it!! A year later, I got a job in the city Jake was stationed. He scouted an apartment for me and I made the move to about 10 miles from his house. Then on, December 25th 2017, Jake gave me the best gift in the world. A rolling pin!! Haha & of course, With the rolling pin came the most beautiful Ring 💍 & the question, would you marry me and make me tortillas for the rest of my life ???
