I met Danny at a local "biker bar" with my friends Meg and Michael. Meg and I would go there from time to time to drink without anyone knowing who we were ;) We were at the bar ordering drinks and there was a guy with a pretty loud voice talking in my direction. I couldn't really hear what he was saying, it was pretty loud that night. I also can't hear in my left ear and didn't realize he was talking to me. I looked over at him leaned in closer to hear what he was saying and of course noticing his thick southern accent, I smiled pretty big and Danny said "You have a beautiful smile." I sat down near him and then listened to what seemed like his whole life story LOL . Then at the end of the night, this really cute guy, you know the one with the accent and lots of charm, asked for my number. I surprised myself by giving him my real number. (I usually changed the last digit to guys I met) ;)
Our first date was at Danny's parents house where he was cat-sitting and wanted to impress me with his cooking skills, he had told me about, so he asked me what I would like. I requested Shrimp and Grits. He said he felt pretty confident in making that, being a southern man! I brought a picnic basket with fresh shrimp from The Shrimp Boat at Whidden's Marina has well as flowers, bread & wine. He was pretty impressed with my gathering of goodies and I was impressed with his kitchen set up. He was all set, just waiting to get started with the shrimp. It was the best Shrimp and Grits I have ever had! And he's been cooking me delicious goodness ever since!
We were enjoying the night at our Christmas Eve Party. My sister, Kim and our close friends and family were here in Florida for Christmas. I thought something was up when Danny told me to look in the tree for my last gift. Everyone started grabbing their cameras and he started acting kind of funny. I got excited and thought it might be keys to a new car, because we had been looking for a car. But even better, there was a fabulous ring hidden in the Christmas Tree! I Loved it!!!
