Our story started pretty innocuously. Being the rambunctious teenager that he was fifteen years ago, Andy Chan decided in Mrs. Johnson's English class to take his feet and kick the chair in front of him to pass the time. Little did he know that Karen Yun was getting more and more annoyed with each kick. Karen exclaimed that she hated this boy who sat behind her. Andy heard but did not really care. A few months later, Andy and Karen were walking to class together with a mutual friend when they were asked what their eventual goals were. When both proclaimed that their dreams were to go to UC Berkeley and become physicians, a suggestion was made that they should be together. Both laughed as they never expected this would happen. A friendship then blossomed into a relationship as they went to high school dances and college at Berkeley together. Two years after college, Karen moved to New York for medical school while Andy stayed in California. The long-distance relationship was filled with moments of yearning, missed anniversaries, birthdays and Valentines, but it shed light on the fact that Andy and Karen were indeed so much happier together. It was only time before Andy and Karen knew that it was meant to be. When Karen was on the beach, with family by her side, Andy came to surprise her, knowing in that moment, with her favorite setting as the backdrop, Andy would ask Karen for her hand in marriage. Of course Karen said yes. What had seemed so impossible back then as freshmen in high school was now all coming true!
