Question

When should we arrive?

Answer

We are hosting a welcome party on Friday evening on the island at 7:30pm. We will have pizza and drinks. We would love for you to be there! Taking a late afternoon ferry would allow you time to get settled before our event. Some people are extending the trip to enjoy the island more. Arriving on Wednesday or Thursday allows you to explore the island before the wedding.

Where do I leave my car?

Answer

Drive to the ferry dock and you will be able to park yourself. The ferry company has three options for parking (Mackinaw City or St. Ignace): Day Parking: $10.00 (off-site) Standard Parking: $20.00/night (off-site) Premium Parking: $45.00/night on-site at the dock (gate ticket required for entry/exit) (We provide continuous shuttle service to and from the off-site lots) Once arriving at the dock, cast members will guide you though our unloading process and provide instructions on where to park.

What is the ferry schedule?

You will find the 2025 Shepler's ferry schedule here. https://www.sheplersferry.com/mackinaw-city-schedule/ The first departure from Mackinaw City is at 7:30 am. They run regularly after that. The last departure from Mackinaw Island is at 10:00 pm. MIGHTY MAC DEPARTURES: Enjoy a scenic detour under the Mighty Mackinac Bridge at no extra charge. Our Mighty Mac Departures are noted in special colors and are available daily. Schedule subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Mighty Mac Departures are approximately 25 minutes in length.

How much is the ferry?

Answer

Jason and I have purchased ferry tickets on your behalf. The tickets are good for a round trip ferry ride during our wedding weekend. You may leave from either city. Go to the counter and tell them you are with the Degen/ DiLaura wedding. They will have your name on a list. Please make sure we know if you are arriving prior to Friday or departing after Monday. We will include this in the information to the ferry company so they are aware.

How do we get our luggage to our hotel?

Answer

Mission Point, the Grand Hotel, and Island House will tag your luggage and get it to the hotel for you! You don't have to do anything. They will take it off the boat, get it to your hotel, and bring it to your room!! I love this feature!!! * Make sure you bring your most important items with you because it may take a little bit of time for the luggage to arrive. If you are staying at a different hotel, then you will get your luggage when you get off the ferry. Take the luggage out to the Main Street and wait for a horse taxi.

What should we do Friday night?

Answer

After the welcome party, you can continue to socialize at the Round Island Kitchen at Mission Point. If you are up for exploring, we recommend the Pink Pony. This casual, lively bar is always a fun time!! There is live music every night from 9pm- 1 am. The hours of the bar are 8am -2am. It is located inside the Chippewa Hotel on Main Street. It serves a wide variety of funky cocktails and is famous for its whitefish dip and burger. Another of our favorites is the Cupola Bar. This is open 12pm- 1am daily. It is located at the top of the Grand Hotel. You do not need to be a guest of the hotel in order to go to this bar. It features spectacular views of the Straits of Mackinac. You can also expect some of the finest and most creative cocktails on the island.

When will we meet up on Saturday? What should we do before the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will begin at 3:00 on the Great Lawn. We encourage you to meet up there by 2:45 so you can be seated in time for the event to begin. Before the wedding, we encourage you to explore the island. One of our favorite activities is to bike around the island. You can rent bicycles directly from Mission Point Resort.
