How We Got Married Anyways

June 5 2021

With the pandemic ongoing in June 2020, we decided to postpone our reception and get married anyways with our immediate families on June 5, 2021. We were married in an intimate ceremony under a pavilion at Holiday Valley which was witnessed by our immediate family seated in Adirondack chairs (haha). Deb and Dan hosted a dinner party (catered by our favorite Hamburg restaurant) in my childhood home with a bonfire. It was a beautiful, blessed day for us to start our lives together! We were disappointed to not have all of our family and friends there to witness our marriage and celebrate with a rocking dance floor but please know that you were in our thoughts and prayers that day. We look forward to celebrating with all of you as soon as it is safe to do so because we all deserve the love and fun that a party provides. We can't wait to celebrate our love for each other, our love for our family and friends, and all of the wonderful things ongoing in everyone's lives - should make for an epic party.....! See you in October 2021!

The Proposal

October 10 2018

Before we started dating we went out to some Hamburg establishments with our friends. After having a few "blue shots" at a favorite bar, we decided to continue the bar crawl elsewhere. By a small traffic circle with a community garden, Karen decided to frolic about in typical fun loving fashion catching Nick's eye as just the perfect amount of crazy. On October 20, 2018 (Sweetest Day) we took a walk around Hamburg. At the same garden Nick knew Karen was more than a friend, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. After some time of yelling "Nicholas!" she said "YES!"

How We Met

We first met at a Goo Goo Dolls concert right after we graduated from the same high school. Nothing ever came of this and we would see each other every year at Friendsgiving for the next four years. One Friendsgiving both of us were tasked with helping to orchestrate a summer trip to Lake George . . . which never worked out. It would not be until Karen decided to get a road bike after college that we finally started talking. Nick was working at Bert's Bikes at the time and sold Karen her bike. We began riding bikes together and started dating shortly after a rained-out bike ride turned into a dinner date.
