We're getting married!

Since August 2020, Ryan and Kayla have been on quite a journey. Like many modern love stories, theirs began on a dating app. Kayla was on her way home from a family road trip with her family, while Ryan had just returned from a cross-country work trip. Their first conversation quickly turned into talk of chicken nuggets and Disney movies — and just like that, the first date was set. As their connection grew, so did their commitment. Kayla made the 45-minute weekend commute from Campbell River to Courtenay, and the two spent countless hours talking, building Lego sets, and watching movies. In July 2021, when Ryan learned he would need to move out of his rental while away for work, Kayla (with the help of friends) found a new place for them to call home. By September, Ryan had moved in — and their life together officially began. Over the next few years, they shared milestones, built memories, and quietly grew a life full of love and laughter. By year three, Kayla started to (subtly) drop hints about a proposal. In early 2024, she even picked out her dream ring — and then promptly forgot about it. That spring, they planned a trip to Nova Scotia to visit Ryan’s family for the first time in nearly a year. To make it extra special, Kayla’s parents came along to finally meet the rest of the family. August 2024 arrived quickly, and just before boarding their flight east, Ryan, Kayla, and her parents were buzzing with anticipation. During the trip, Ryan and Kayla celebrated their fourth anniversary — made even more memorable with a romantic getaway to Oak Island (thanks to Ryan’s parents!). After a bit of a muddy detour and a slightly confusing trail, Ryan got down on one knee and asked Kayla to marry him. And she said YES! Since then, life hasn’t slowed down. They’ve moved into their own apartment, adopted their first kitten, Chester, and — most exciting of all — embarked on their biggest adventure yet: moving to Lower Sackville in September 2025! They can’t wait to start this new chapter together and are even more excited to celebrate their wedding day with all of you.
