Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Karina Alvarez-Calderon and William Ryan Nies
Together, we have backpacked on a ~college~ budget from Mexico to Guatemala, trekked the Nepalese Himalaya's, lived in Thailand & have tasted our way through Peru to Budapest and back. All this to say that we'd love for our guests to make the most of our wedding destination. Below are some things we'd recommend considering:
Montgomery Woods State Park

Montgomery Woods State Park

15825 Orr Springs Road, Ukiah, CA 95482
, (707) 937-5804

Just above the town of Ukiah (about 30 minutes from Yokayo Ranch), Montgomery Woods is an isolated and stunning collection of some of California's largest Redwoods, including a 3-mile loop that goes through a virgin redwood grove with some of the tallest trees in the country! If you haven't experienced the redwoods before, it's worth adding to the list.

The Skunk Train

The Skunk Train

299 East Commercial Street, Willits, CA 95490
, (707) 964-6371

Step back in time for a magical ride through the redwoods on the world-famous Skunk Train. Since 1885 the historic Skunk has made its way through old-growth redwood groves, over scenic trestle bridges, through spectacular tunnels, and into the heart of the Noyo River canyon. The 2-hour "Wolf Tree Run Journey" departs just 25 minutes away from Ukiah! Book your tickets ahead of time.

Vichy Springs Resort and Inn

Vichy Springs Resort and Inn

2605 Vichy Springs Road, Ukiah, CA 95482
, (707) 462-9515

160-year-old historic hot spring resort with hundreds of acres to hike offering the only naturally warm and carbonated "Vichy" mineral baths in North America. Just 10-minutes from our venue, also a great place to stay for the weekend!

Head West!

Head West!

If you have time, we highly recommend driving to the coast! Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Little River, and Elk are just a few options ranging 1-2 hours drive away from Ukiah. Extend your visit & plan a summer roadtrip along the scenic Highway 1. With 90+ miles of coastline, Mendocino County has a beach for everyone.

Summer Roadtrip

Summer Roadtrip

We know that some of you are traveling a long distance to attend our wedding. Why not make a summer roadtrip out of it? (Reminder: Labor Day Weekend is the weekend after our wedding 😉) On top of the fun recommendations above, you'll be in driving distance of San Francisco (the city we know & love), Lake Tahoe, Napa, the Russian River Valley & so much more along the way. We'd be more than happy to help you plan your adventure - just let us know! đŸ€

Enjoy all that Northern California has to offer! If you have time, stop by Anderson Valley Brewing Co (they have a disc-golf course), or check out this map of Mendocino wineries: https://www.mendocino.com/winemap.html

For all the days along the way
