How We Met

9.1.2018

Our first conversation started online via Bumble.com. According to Steve, my profile did not say much, but a photo of me from New Year's Eve in a red dress grabbed his attention. We met at Nate's in Buda on our first date and talked over casual drinks. From there, the date led to Mainstreet Pizza for dinner, Buck's, and Willie's Joint, where I was implored by the bartender to do a "Ray Charles shot". Blindfolded and aiming at liquor bottles, I ended up with a truly disgusting combination, which fortunately for me, Steve ended up drinking on my behalf. Steve would later divulge that after he decided the date was going well, he wanted to give me a tour of Buda to hopefully impress me with all the quaint town had to offer.

The Proposal

11.7.2020

Our friends and neighbors had recently gotten an Infiniti convertible, so we were all ripe to do a couples' date to a winery somewhere. We had been talking about the excursion for several weeks, so in many ways it seemed like normal plans to "do up" the day with our good friends, Ben & Toni. Truth-be-told, I did have a few inclinations that the day would be a special one. A few days prior, I was on the phone with my salon to schedule a haircut (initially the receptionist said she had an opening on that Saturday morning); keen to get my locks a much needed trim, I agreed to the morning appointment, only to hear Steve shout from the other room, "You're busy!", which I hastily respond, "All day?!" Needless to say, I scheduled the cut for another day. Another thing that seemed strange to me was, while there were continual references to our couples' date, everyone neglected to discuss where we would be going, what time we would go... with Steve being the most allusive about our pending plans. Also, I couldn't help but take notice that Steve's attire was definitely more dressed up than the norm that day, and so I thought our day was going to be a special day, just the four of us. Upon arriving at Fall Creek Vineyards, Steve took me by the hand, at an aggressive pace, I might add; we bypassed the front entrance, and he lead me around the side, to be very surprised by a group of close family and friends awaiting our arrival! He got down on one knee, and in a few words said, "I love you. I have been waiting a long time to do this. Will you marry me?" And just like that, we were engaged to be married. Let the celebrations begin!
