Barberstown Castle is a historic country house hotel and 13th century castle conveniently located near Dublin. Formerly the home of musician Eric Clapton, Barberstown Castle is a member of Ireland’s Blue Book and The Historic Hotels of Europe. As of now Barberstown Castle has no vacancy for Friday or Saturday. Our room rate has lifted for this property, but we recommend guests keep checking Barberstown's website for last minute cancellations.

The Court Yard Hotel

Tucked away on the banks of the River Liffey, this 4 star hotel is built on the original site where Arthur Guinness created his brewing empire. It is within 15 minutes from both Barberstown Castle and Dublin City Centre. Our room hold has lifted for this property, but several rooms are still available outside of our room rate. The Westgrove Hotel is a 4 star hotel less than 10 minutes away from Barberstown Castle. It is on the outskirts of the town of Clane and walking distance to local amenities. Airport Transportation Options

Taxi: Taxis are readily available at the arrivals terminal at Dublin airport. To travel to Barberstown Castle you can expect to pay between €60-80. To Dublin city centre is €35. Bus: There is an aircoach bus from the airport to Dublin City Centre for €7 one way. Rental cars: Currently pricing varies. Remember to filter for 'Automatic Transmission' vehicles, if desired, as most cars in Ireland are manual.

Auxillary Hotels Shuttle

The Court Yard Hotel will have a pick up/drop off shuttle service both Friday and Saturday. The Westgrove Hotel will have a shuttle Friday evening only. Friday July 21st 5PM: Court Yard Hotel Pick Up 5:30PM: Westgrove Hotel Pick Up -- 9:30PM: Court Yard Hotel Departure 10:00PM: Westgrove Hotel Departure Saturday July 22nd 1:30PM: Court Yard Hotel Pick Up - 12:30AM: Court Yard Hotel Departure Details: The vehicle is a white Ford 14 seater van with the logo 'O'Connor Taxi' on the front and back. Westgrove pick up will be in the front of the building's parking lot area. Court Yard pick up will be in the back entrance's parking lot area. Note: Guests of the Court Yard Friday night will be arriving slightly before the event 'officially' starts. The Pub will be open, but it's also a great opportunity to explore the Hotel, Castle and Gardens! Note: If you have not yet expressed interest in the Court Yard lodging or shuttle there is no guaranteed space available for the Saturday pick up to Barberstown Castle.

Local Transportation Options

Dublin city center is approximately 25 minutes by car from Barberstown Castle. Taxi: College Cabs is a local taxi company. The hotel reception can also book taxis for you as needed. Ride Share Apps: Uber is available in Ireland but typically the European app Free Now has better availability and is the same price or less. Public transportation: The 120 bus picks up from just outside of Barberstown Castle (5 minute walk) and drops off in City Center/Temple Bar area in 35 minutes. You can use euro coins or purchase tickets in select shops throughout Dublin. Important Note: We have been advised that it can be difficult to get a taxi from Barberstown Castle late at night and in the early morning hours. Those who chose to not stay at Barberstown or our local hotels providing shuttle service should arrange transportation in advance to avoid being stranded!

For those looking for a five-star experience, the K Club is less than 5 minutes from Barberstown Castle. The golf course was made famous for holding the 2006 Ryder cup and has held many European Championships since.

If you are looking for traditional luxury then the Westbury, Merrion or the Shelbourne hotel are beautiful old world hotels with 5 star luxury. For something more modern and contemporary The Marlon and the Wilder are also in the heart of Dublin and offer good rates.
