KARA'S POV - Sam and I were in a small group together, but wanted to get to know each other better, so we made plans to hang out on a Friday night. We discussed SUPing, playing Pickleball, grabbing drinks, etc.. We landed on grabbing drinks at Dainty Dillo and met up for some mocktails. It was a busy night there and we stood talking for a while until we found two open stools by the stage. Shortly after we sat down, a guy in front of us turned around and started talking with us. After listening to Sam and this guy talk about California for a while, he and his friends left to go to another bar. A little while later, two guys came over to us holding up their phones and asking us to 'help settle a debate of which dog is cuter.' Two guys that we'd come to know as Daniel & Ty. I don't think Sam or I gave an answer, but it did kickstart a conversation. Sam shared that she and I had met through a church small group and that I enjoyed going dancing at Mavericks a few days each week. This bit of information caught Daniel's attention and we sat talking while Daniel's friends, Ty and Grant sat talking with Sam about California and other things. At 10pm, Sam was ready to call it a night and Ty insisted Daniel and I exchange numbers so we could connect at Mavericks the next time we were both there. The next evening, Daniel reached out and we began texting back and forth to make plans to go for drinks as our first date. However, my small group got canceled on Tuesday and Daniel asked me about meeting him and his dog at a park since my plans had fallen through. I left Benji at home and met Daniel and Dood at a park near my apartment where Dood promptly covered me in mud, but we hit it off and the rest is history! DANIEL'S POV - COMING SOON...
On Monday, November 18th, Daniel asked me to see if I could take the morning off of work on Friday. I had already requested the afternoon off to help him with any set up for a bonfire we had planned and to spend time with my family. He didn't share much information on why he wanted me to take the morning off initially other than to take my family for lunch that day. I got Friday morning off and later that week, Daniel told me we were going to get coffee and then take my family for lunch. Due to the lack of details, I was suspicious that he may be planning to propose and made sure I was dressed nice, but when I got to his apartment, he was still on a work call and not ready to leave. We left his apartment 20 minutes later, and he called Grant back after missing his call. Grant was asking for Daniel to come check out an old truck that he was interested in buying. So we began driving over to where Grant was in the middle of a neighborhood. I offered to stay in the car to look for a lunch spot to take my family, but Daniel encouraged me to come with him, promising it wouldn't take long. We walked up a walkway at what appeared to be someone's home, past a 'closed for a private event' sign. We continued to follow a path around the back of the building to a beautiful old greenhouse where red rose petals covered the stone steps down into the greenhouse. It was at this point that I realized Daniel was proposing and turned to him shocked! We both entered the greenhouse laughing and full of excitement. Daniel and I followed the rose petals to the 'Marry Me' light up sign and the ring box where he then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes!
