The Wedding Website of Kara Netherton and Chris Dial

Travel Note

Welcome to Savannah!

Savannah is widely considered a walkable city! Explore the city's rich past and savor the relaxed pace that makes Savannah a sought-after escape. From the local shops and award-winning dining scene in the Historic Landmark District to the vibrant colors of lush green squares and Forsyth Park, experience the joy in this irresistible city! Pleasant Weather: Fall in Savannah offers a welcome reprieve from the summer heat and humidity. The weather is generally mild, with comfortable temperatures perfect for walking around and enjoying outdoor activities (and our wedding)!

Travel Note

Chippewa Square

The "park bench" scene which opens the 1994 film Forrest Gump was filmed on the north side of Chippewa Square. The bench was a fiberglass prop, rather than one of the park's actual benches. A replica of the prop bench used in the film is on display at the Savannah Visitors Center.

Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is best known for its iconic fountain, a large, ornate cast-iron structure that is a popular spot for photos and a symbol of Savannah. The park itself is a large, 30-acre public space featuring walking paths, a fragrant garden for the blind, and monuments, and is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a movie directed by Clint Eastwood based on the book by John Berendt that details a real-life retelling of an event in Savannah. Several scenes from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil are shot at famous locations in Savannah, including the Mercer-Williams House (made famous from this bestselling novel), Forsyth Park, and Bonaventure Cemetery.

Breakfast!

Savannah is FULL of great food options! Goose Feathers Cafe & Bakery is right around the corner and speaking from experience, can be a very tasty quick order at the counter and sit down to eat breakfast option! It can have a line wrapped outside, but it does move pretty quickly.
