While we officially met in pharmacy school at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2010, we didn't truly get to know one another until the last day of classes for the fall 2010 semester. Celebrating the end of the semester, we ended up at the same Dinkytown bar (RIP The Library) &, thanks to some liquid courage, ended up talking the whole night. Due to the holidays, our first date wasn't until 1/10/2011. Brent planned for us to ice skate at Van Cleve park & have dinner at Tuggs. The evening went by quickly, as we found it easy to be around one another. Our first date led to a second, then third & with each date, we found that we enjoyed spending time together & made time for each other whenever we could (sometimes challenging with exams, jobs, & social activities). We met each other’s friends & families, traveled (mainly to pharmacy conferences), & explored the Twin Cities, growing to love one another more each day Brent graduated in 2013 & moved to Chicago for his 1st year of residency, kicking off 3 years of long distance. Kara graduated the next year & moved to Seattle for 2 years, while Brent returned to Minneapolis. Three years of long distance certainly had its challenges & learnings (never fly Spirit, TSA Pre-check is worth every penny, communicate, communicate, communicate). Despite the distance & different time zones, we found ways to make each other a priority during some of the busiest years of our careers. We finally reunited in 2016, settling into our first apartment & recently our first house. Long distance certainly strengthened our relationship, but we greatly enjoy our new normal of not having to get in an airplane to see one another. On 3/27/18, we finally had an answer to our friends & families favorite question 'When are you two getting engaged?' We are excited for this next chapter in our lives & are looking forward to celebrating with our family & friends!
