Let us take you back to August 2018, at the start of freshman orientation at Indiana Wesleyan University. We were first introduced by our parents who attended college together; our families shared lunch and reminised about their old college days, meanwhile, Kara and I(Parker) would share an awkward hello. Later that week at a soccer game we broke the ice and were able to get to know each other, this would be the beginning of our friendship. Almost immediately I(Kara) was interested but kept it to myself as we grew closer; I(Parker) was not so quick to form feelings. I(still Parker) would be in and out of a few relationships while Kara stood by and watched me rise and fall, listening to me go on and on about never finding the right one and if she was ever out there. I(Kara) from early on was sure that I wanted Parker to be in my life for a long time, I just wasn't sure if it was going to be in a romantic way or simply as friends. Through prayer I(still Kara) became content with either option and started to focus on just being Parker's friend. As life took a turn, I(Parker) would leave IWU during sophmore year to pursue an online education, this would not have any effect on our friendship as I still came back to visit regularly. I can remember during one of my visits noticing Kara in a much different way, my feelings for her quickly developed after that visit. Our friendship became much deeper as we talked about our future and what we both wanted, in realizing we both wanted God honoring relationships, and knowing that we had a strong bond as friends we decided to make our feelings known to each other. Soon after that, in August of 2020, I(Parker) would ask Kara to be my girlfriend. From the beginning we knew we wanted to date for marriage so our relationship moved at a steady pace; we would fall more deeply in love and closer together. Our future was very clear, we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together!
