We met while I was visiting Houston and contemplating moving here. After talking over dinner and making mutual connections, there was an immediate sense of comfort. The next night, we went out for New Year's Eve, and Brian and I continued to bond over similar interests. We noticed the table next to us receiving a lot of attention and realized it was Houston Texans quarterback, Deshaun Watson. Looking confused at all of the fuss, Brian quickly explained to me that he was the Houston equivalent of Drew Brees, and it was in that moment that I knew Brian understood me perfectly. Our first picture together was that night with Deshaun Watson. After New Year's, I returned to New Orleans, but Brian and I kept in touch. In fact, we spoke everyday. Meeting Brian made my decision easier - I moved to Houston a month later, and we have been together ever since.
We traveled to New Orleans for Brian's birthday to both celebrate and spend time with my family, who we had not seen in months due to COVID. As part of the birthday festivities, Brian and I went to our favorite rooftop bar at the Pontchartrain Hotel, where we were greeted with champagne and taken to a table overlooking downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi River. I looked at Brian, and he asked me to marry him. I screamed "YES!", and little did I know, our family and friends were there waiting to help us celebrate. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in New Orleans!
