Despite running in the same circles on Georgia Tech's campus, Michelle and Corbett actually met in Savannah, GA four years ago! Corbett had just started working at his co-op in Savannah, and Michelle was on a girls' weekend getaway. Since Corbett was also new to the area, their mutual friend, Rachel (who's now, of course, a bridesmaid), invited Corbett to join the girls on their tour of the city. As the day went on, they got to know each other and learned how much they had in common. It was when they toured the Cathedral that it really clicked that this could be something special. Michelle and Corbett both remember walking down Savannah's cobblestone streets that day with their mutual friends lagging way behind to give them space. It was clear something was up when their friends sat down quickly for dinner, leaving just two seats next to each other for Michelle and Corbett. Corbett took Michelle on a date two weeks later back in Atlanta (that ended up lasting 6 hours), and the rest is history!

Corbett came into town for Georgia Tech’s Homecoming Weekend. He told Michelle he had date night plans for her that involved walking the Beltline Trail. They started walking the Beltline and everything seemed normal, until Corbett decided to veer off course and go down a path to Old Fourth Ward Park. Michelle was walking in heeled boots and getting tired, but Corbett insisted they walk the park’s loop trail before leaving. As they start walking the trail, Michelle could tell Corbett was getting nervous. They made it to the lake portion of the trail, and Michelle started commenting on the fish and turtles. Meanwhile, Corbett was dead silent. He took a step back, grabbed Michelle’s hands, and delivered his speech. He got down on one knee, popped the question, and she said YES!
