Longwood Gardens is an American botanical garden that consists of over 1,077 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. Dedicate a few hours to this excursion and be sure to take a break in their beer garden. Worth the hike and the hype.

Our recommended hotel sits right on this river walk. Find local shops and eats as well as mini-golf and Constitution Yards. Kane proposed to Julia along the river in one of the covered deck gazebos on their way from mini-golf to dinner at Bank's Seafood. If you brought your bike, you can take the biking trail all the way down to Old New Castle and back.

Lots of great walking trails. This is our dog Beaux's favorite place to check out some deer. Bellevue State Park is a 328-acre Delaware state park in the suburbs of Wilmington in New Castle County, Delaware in the United States. The park is named for Bellevue Hall, the former mansion of William du Pont Jr. Many of the facilities at the park were built by du Pont.

With hundreds of trails to choose from, we recommend checking out the selection on All Trails first. Many are shaded and wind along the Brandywine River. Brandywine Creek State Park is a state park, located 3 miles north of Wilmington, Delaware along the Brandywine Creek. Open year-round, it is 933 acres in area and much of the park was part of a Du Pont family estate and dairy farm before becoming a state park in 1965.
