Anyone who has me on social media probably saw that our original wedding date was going to be August 19th. In September 2022, we received the devastating news that one of Lukas' beloved family members has cancer. We of course wanted to make sure that the majority of our loved ones can make it to the wedding and it also reminded us of how short life is; tomorrow is not promised (Proverbs 27:1). Why wait until August if we are ready to get married now? With all of that being said, we want this to be a happy celebration! We understand if some of you aren't able to make it to the wedding since it is so short notice and now a winter wedding. We hope you are able to join!
Lukas and I both had friends who talked us into working at Panera Bread. We quickly found out we went to the same high school. As time went on, we began to talk more and got to know each other. After a few months, Lukas decided he wanted to ask me out. About two months later he finally got the courage to ask me out on a date and I agreed. ~ Kandyce's perspective Kandyce and I both worked at Panera Bread in Saint Joseph, Michigan. We became close work friends and shortly after, found out through mutual friends that we went to the same High school together. Through the next couple of months, I had to work up the courage to ask Kandyce out on a date. I was so worried she would say no and that it would ruin our good relationship as work friends. Thankfully she said yes to a date and my life couldn't have been better. ~ Lukas' perspective
After five years of dating, we both knew it was time to take the next steps and commit the rest of our lives together. The previous month we were talking about our life and what it would look like together. During those conversations I knew I had my one and only love right in front of me. I began planning on how I would come up with a good proposal. I decided on using the lighthouse at the tip of old mission peninsula as the location. With the help of my grandfather to take pictures and hide in the trees, the last step was to get her to take a drive with me up the peninsula to the lighthouse. I classified the adventure as a trip to see the beautiful fall colors. Once we approached the lighthouse, we walked out on the beach to the precise spot my grandfather and I picked out so he would have the best camera angle from the trees. Once at the spot, I got down on one knee and asked the big question. With Kandyce in tears, she said YES! ~ Lukas' perspective In September 2021, we started talking about our future more seriously. The next month, Lukas began taking me to different beautiful locations (all proposal worthy). Lukas isn't too good at keeping secrets from me so I knew it would be soon. I had a feeling it would be on October 16th, and I was right! He took me to a beautiful lighthouse on the beach and asked me to marry him; I immediately started crying and shouted "YES!" ~ Kandyce's perspective
