Keith and I met at a friend’s house party in December of 1990. When him and his friends walked into the party, I thought he was attractive. A year later we reconnected at the same friend’s house party and dated briefly while he was home for Christmas break. Christmas break ended, and shortly thereafter so did we. However, our best friends were cousins and so we stayed in touch indirectly. In 2005, we literally crossed paths walking downtown in Chicago. Despite the years, it seemed that no time had passed at all as we were always able to talk about anything with ease; our connection was undeniable. We lived our lives separately; relationships, kids (me-1, Keith-5), multiple careers, and a relocation to Tampa. One thing that was clear was that no matter how much time had passed, whenever we reconnected, we had great chemistry and our comfort level with one another was unexplainable. Through the years, we would talk ever so often and catch up on what was going on in our lives. We would also see one another occasionally at McGee family functions. In 2018, we began talking more frequently, and just like our previous encounters, it seemed we never skipped a beat. Shortly, we were talking to one another daily and soon became the best of friends. Keith would say that he willed me to him as he knew he was in love with me. It took me a little longer to realize that our friendship was shifting to something more serious. In November of 2020 we began to date officially and as the saying goes….the rest is history.
