Herron park was where we had our first "official" date. The notch trail is about 45 minutes up to a spot that looks back over the flathead valley. There are also a number of other easy walking trails there.
Glacier is one of our favorite places! At this time of year only part of Going to the Sun Road is likely to be accessible, but McDonald lake is a very pretty spot not far into the park. Elisha has spent many birthdays on its shores with her family (including this past summer). Additionally, when Kyle visited Montana for the first time in 2020 we hiked the McDonald creek trail together (and Kyle realized he still REALLY liked Elisha). That trail along with a few others should still be accessible in October.
This one is a bit more of a trek, being a 45 minute drive on dirt roads from Bigfork, but is super pretty. We have hiked it several times and always enjoy ourselves, including when we hike up for sunrises (which are gorgeous from the peak!) Just be aware of the drive and the fact that going all the way up mount Aeneas is about a 6 mile hike. Previous hiking experience would definitely be recommended.
This one takes a bit of explaining. First off, downtown Bigfork is a quaint little spot that is fun to wander around for a bit. Secondly, the address here will bring you to the theater where Elisha works, costuming for the children's shows during the school year. At this point, The Little Mermaid will have just closed and we'll be in a slight break until White Christmas starts up in mid November. And lastly, if you head up the hill on Grand Avenue until it dead ends you will find the Swan River Nature Trail. This path is a pleasant and fairly level walk with lovely river views—and also where Kyle proposed!
This is a quaint little pho spot that we both enjoy on days where we feel like having a casual meal out. It may not be up to SoCal standards, but we both think it's pretty tasty!
This is our favorite Mexican place in the Flathead valley. It's a small sit down restaurant that serves up some delicious burritos, tacos, and other Mexican fare.
The best sushi place in town! Some of the menu may seem odd at first glance, but they also make lots of traditional rolls and delicious nigiri. If you choose to swing by, you may even run into Elisha’s sister, Micah, as she works here in the evenings!
Our church! If you want to come the day after the wedding, we are planning to be there at the 10 o’clock service. It would be fun to see some of you again before heading out!
